LOCATION: Ferrara, Piazza Savonarola
ROUTE: Green
HISTORICAL COMMENTS ABOUT THE PLACE: As Ferrara was built where the Po river divides in two branches, the history of the city has always been linked to this river. In particular its floods have always been observed because of the threat overflows could pose to the city. The floods in which the water reached a level above the danger mark (8.51 meters above sea level) and that have been measured in Pontelagoscuro, are today engraved on a marble slab located in the city center. This slab is called "padimetro", from the name of the Po river, and describes the dates and the levels of the floods of the Po river from 1705 to today.
