The eight-pointed star has its origin in the mythology and trtessian religiosity that worships the sun of the ancient mediterranean civilizations.

The oldest examples seem to be found in the Near East, its use has also been confirmed in western places, as for example, in several points of the Iberian Peninsula.

The Tartessian star is an eight-pointed star, and it is the result of the superposition of two concentric squares, where one of them has been rotated 45 degrees.
