QUADRILATERAL IN THE DOOR OF THE CHURCH

Actualizado: 20 ene 2020

LOCATION: 'Ermita de San Marcos', Alcalá la Real, Spain.

COLOUR OF THE ROUTE: GREEN.

LEVEL: Medium.

HISTORICAL COMMENTS ABOUT THE PLACE: It is a beautiful Renaissance church, the first place where the third parents belonging to the Franciscan order settled in 1506. They built the church and a house there, where they lived until they moved to the 'Consolación' convent.

The church consists on a rectangular floor plan with a side chapel, covered by a dome decorated with mural paintings, divided into cassettes and topped with a rosette pinion. The altarpiece of the mian chapel is presided by the image of the Virgin of the Head.

In front of the hermitage there is a large square with a viewpoint, from which you can see beautiful views of Alcalá la Real.
