The Mota´s fortress is formed by lots of mathematical figures like The Alhambra. Today we are going to talk about Arches.
Arch is a mechanical arrangement of wedge-shaped blocks of stones. The main function of an arch is to carry the weight of the structure above the opening.

In an arch we can see the arch ring (it is a course of stones or bricks having a curve to similar to that of the arch), the voussoirs ( the wedge-shaped units forming the arch are known as arch stones), springing line ( it is an imaginary line joining two springing points), crown ( it is the highest part of the arch) ...
