Sukiennice - a historic cloth hall building located in the central part of the Main Market Square in Krakow.

Sukiennice has undergone many transformations for centuries and their current shape does not resemble old cloth hall. Already in 1257, Prince Bolesław Wstydliwy at the location of Krakow undertook to erect stone cloth stalls. They constituted a double row of stalls, forming a kind of street in the middle of the Market Square. Cloth in this form survived until the mid-fourteenth century. In the localization act, the prince undertook to put up stone dresses. They constituted a double row of stalls with a small street in the middle, which was closed on both sides at night. Around 1300, the arcade and stalls were roofed, which gave them the appearance of a market hall. In this form they survived until the mid-fourteenth century. New, Gothic cloth hall was erected by King Kazimiesz III Wielki before 1358. In the long axis it was 18 stalls, which were covered with vaults and opened to the inside with pointed or semi-circular portals. Double ogival arcades were built on the southern and northern sides. They already resembled the current cloth hall. This building survived as a Gothic building until 1555, when it burned down. In the years 1556–1559, the burned Sukiennice was restored. The building was topped with an attic with arcade divisions and combs with mascarons designed by Santi Gucci. Column loggias were also added, designed by Jan Maria Padovano. In 1601, the passage across Sukiennice was pierced and decorated with breaks.
