HISTORICAL COMMENTS ABOUT THE PLACE: "Wieliczka" Salt Mine - a rock salt mine in Wieliczka near Krakow. In 1976, the mine was entered into the national register of monuments. The Wieliczka Mine has 9 levels. The Underground Tourist Route of the Wieliczka mine was established at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. About a million tourists visit the 3 km route consisting of 20 chambers annually, located at depths from 64 to 135 meters. There are about 800 stairs to cover.
