Historical comment about the place: The Music House was built to celebrate the year of 2001, the year Porto was elected the European Capital of Culture. It´s the first building in Portugal totally dedicated to music. It is used not only for performances and concerts but also for learning classes. Its main focus is the artistic creation and education. The building is the result of an international contest of architecture in 1999 which chose the project designed by Rem Koolhaas. The Music house was inaugurated on April 15th 2005.
