Historical comments about the place:

The Monument of D. Pedro IV is located in

avenue of the allies, in the city of Oporto, Portugal. It is a statue by the sculptor Célestin Anatole Calmels. The first stone was laid on July 9, 1862. It was inaugurated on October 19, 1866.

The monument of D. Pedro IV thus came to crown a long perfect course of various successes.

As for the statue of D. Pedro IV appears to us represented on horseback, wearing the uniform. And while holding the reins of the horse with his left hand, D. Pedro offers the constitutional letter to the city, with the right hand.

Executed between 1862 and 1866, the monument assumed a status of public and official homage of the city of Porto.
