The architecture of Aveiro is influenced by two phases: the pre-Kingdom era and the modernist movements!
The cities’ landmarks are the 15th century Monastery of Jesus, now known as Santa Joana Museum, and the University of Aveiro, where many the nationalist architects where involved in constructions projects.
The expansion of economy during 19th – 20th centuries originated abundance of architectural buildings in many styles, including Art Nova and Art Deco.
