Basic details.

Liceo Roiti is a scientific upper secondary school lasting 5 years, founded in 1923. It was named after the local scientist Antonio Roiti (1843-1921), professor of Mathematics and Physics in Universities, collaborator of the Ministry of Education, founder of scientific museums. He wrote numerous scientific articles, textbooks for schools and University, and to him we owe the introduction of the use of scientific laboratories in the Italian school teaching.
The are currently 5 courses specialising in the following areas: traditional scientific, applied sciences, science and sports, conservation of the cultural heritage and a course called "Europe". The languages English, German and French are studied and in many courses also Latin is taught. The school is equipped with specific laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology, information technology and languages. There are three gyms and a small outdoor sports ground, a library and a lecture hall, in two buildings separated by a grass field. The school is attended by 1658 students, between 14 and 19 years old, coming from the city and nearby areas; the teachers are 106.
Several activities are carried out at this school: preparation for competitions in mathematics, physics, information technology, chemistry; chess, language, singing, sports, tournaments. The school encourages students to participate in cultural projects and competitions to stimulate their creativity, to help their orientation for the future, to nurture
talents. At the same time it supports the weakest and helps the integration of struggling students with remedial work and support actions.
Liceo Roiti is considered one of the best schools in the region, as evidenced by the reports of national institutions and foundations. Graduation exam outcomes are successful and the results obtained by the students in their further university studies are excellent.
